Fighting Style T1

T1 is probably the hardest way to role play, if you are not good at being descriptive. T1 is turn based, so you have to wait for your opponent to finish typing his/her attack. It is also a paragraph fighting. In a T1 match, your opponent can strike you. You have the ability to reverse the attack and counter with one of your own. In T1 you can ONLY TYPE ONE ATTACK PER EACH PARAGRAPH. If you type more than one attack in each paragraph, you are disqualified. You may need to type more than one paragraph in order to complete an action, if so then ( C ) at the end and beginning of your paragraph. Once you complete your entrance/attack place and ( E ) at the end of it.

Example: James enters the room, his long coat flapping against the leather material of his high boots with each step he made across the room. The heels of his thick boots clicked against the wooden floor as he made his way over to his predetermined target. His pale blue eyes stared over the multitude of heads belonging to patrons that inhabited the room. Most sitting at their respective tables and engaged in their own conversations; some playing games and others laughing boisterously as they tilted back and drank from their mugs. His thin lips closed together to blow a loose lock of coal black hair out of his line of sight as his hands slipped to his belt, unsheathing a dagger subtly, holding it carefully along his inner wrist to keep it concealed. (C)

(C) His target, a man that, if standing, would be nearly his own height. His weight easily exceeded his own but that was of no concern at the moment. James inched closer and closer, keeping his eyes on Ronin, studying his posture, his back exposed to him as he was clearly harassing one of the wenches. James closed the distance, which was only a few feet away from the door, and jabbed the dagger down, aiming for Ronin’s shoulder with enough force to penetrate to the hilt. (E)

Response: Ronin sat drunkenly at the bar. His long brown beard hung in a dirty matted mess that his fingers constantly went to fiddle with and stroke while his beady clouded eyes followed the voluptuous bar wench moved up and down the bar, effectively taking and executing orders. He pulled a small purse from his belt that was buried beneath a large round belly. He tossed it onto the counter, calling out to the wench, spittle following each word pushed out. His drunken slurs drowned out most of the conversations nearby and covered the approaching footsteps that enclosed behind him. (C)

(C) He screamed out when the sharp steel blade pierces through his flesh and jammed into his shoulder. The sudden rush of pain sent him into a state of fear and hastily he attempted to jump from the stool to move away though in his drunken state he fell to his side letting out a painful cry. He turned, seeing the attacker peering at him. He extended his leg, kicking at the attacker’s knee. (E)

**Keep in mind that full detailed paragraphs are typically used for forums, groups and messenger role-plays. In IMVU, Second Life and MMORPg’s generally full paragraphs are not used but it is still expected that actions are laid out in detail. In T1 fighting, it is crucial that details are laid out so your opponent cannot find a loop hole in your post to use against you.

[www.dpsinfo.com] This is a link I found that I feel has best described the rules of standard turn base fighting, though I find it is lacking in detail and I would have gone about it differently. I still find it to be a good example.

****************************************************A few things to keep in mind: *********************************************************
1. It is important to lay out your actions in full detail. This is in order to make sure that it is clear to all involved what is going on and how it is being done.
2. Remember the laws of physics. Even in role play, there are rules.
3. Anything and everything can be destroyed. Nothing is invincible.
4. The initiating post is the the first post of a spar/fight. In that post is where description of character is important. In this post is where weapons are listed, what is worn ect...this is so if suddenly an opponent pulls a weapon out of nowhere after they have been disarmed, it can be argued. There are ways around this of course, but be cautious on not listing and be realistic on how they are suddenly there.
5. There are differences between spells and natural abilities. Somethings require energy to cast, if this is the case then a minimum of one post must be used where nothing else is done. This can be done in the initiating post, rather than attacking or charging, you use the post to gather energy in order to cast spells or prep up for more advanced abilities. A character has to focus to do this, they cannot focus on gathering energy and focus on where their blade is going to attack on an opponent.
6. If you are fighting in a large arena and you state that you are on the opposite side of it and your opponent on the other, then you cannot charge in and attack. You would charge in, close the distance between you and your opponent..end of your turn.
7. Attacks must be typed out as an attempt. IE: Aims for, towards, at, in the direction of ect... If it is not posted as an attempt, then it is a void action. Auto-connects are not valid and can be an automatic loss of fight.
